Came here for dinner and had a great experience overall! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait awhile to get seated, maybe 20 minutes. Once we got seated, we were served menus and waters. Mango lassi (5/5): Really good, flavorful and creamy! Really liked this drink and paired well with the food. Chicken tikka masala (5/5): So good, the sauce was so flavorful and creamy and the chicken wasn't overcooked. Garlic naan (5/5): Delicious by itself but also paired nicely with the chicken tikka masala. It was crispy on the edges but fluffy inside. Overall I liked all the dishes that we ordered and the portions were big, so we were really satisfied after the meal. Service was great and liked the ambience of the restaurant overall. It's also located in downtown SB, so there's a lot of things to see/do around the area.

The butter chicken here is amazing. Know if you're not used to alot of heat, if you get it mild, it still has enough spice, so you're not missing out. If you try medium and it's too hot, also know they are good about noticing and refilling your ice water, which is nicely served in a stainless steel cup. The garlic naan is also spot on. Served hot, it's light with a crispy, bubbly, just charred enough, buttery, herb filled top that delivers the taste and texture one would hope for given the visuals. To me, it's perfect naan. For appetizers, so far I've had their equivalent of chicken tenders and potato pancakes. Both came with slaw that I was able to mix with the more than ample amount of extra sauce and eat all of it, where otherwise I'd leave it behind as a garnish. And the different sauces were, of course, perfectly executed. It's that kind of place, where you can relax and trust without further thought that everything will be great. The chicken tenders were beautiful inside and out, a treat for the eyes and tastebuds, and plentiful. I'm not sure if they were being nice to us, but it was alot of food. Contrast that with the potato pancakes, which are not that big to begin with, and there are only two sitting there on a pile of slaw. But I didn't care and would order again, they are sooooo good. Like making your mouth salivate with the memory good. For drinks know they have Orange Fanta served in the bottle with a cup of ice. And the chai is beyond to the point I was thinking nothing this good can be that good for you. But I didn't taste a ton of sugar or sweetness, and it was light, not heavy with too much cream. I don't think it needed any of that because of the type and perfect amount of sweet spices. Even on a busy Saturday, they are not overly busy, having both booths and tables inside and out. But, I probably won't go back on a Saturday because of the crowded area around State St and the competition for parking. To go during the week is comparably pure relaxation. It's really easy to stay within the 75 min free parking period with City Parking 10 so close, and a structure, not just a lot. There is always a quick spot with so many levels (remember what floor you're on) and so many people coming and going, and just half a block of walking down the middle of closed to traffic State St. And not only are the staff super friendly and gracious, the food comes out quick. Not rushing, just a nice show of efficiency that allows you to spend as little or as much time as you want here. Finally the Butter Chicken. When I first had it, we ordered medium spice. I was there with a regular that, after the first bite, we were doing splitzies, told me they went easy on me because it wasn't the usual medium spicy heat. I loved the smooth tomato sauce, no chunks, mixed with a little cream maybe, and a dollop of butter on top. Think incredibly, perfectly spiced tomato sauce. Not Italian, but crave worthy over chicken as tomato sauce is over spaghetti. On my next visit I found out they truly were being easy on me. The medium here is not average, it's really spicy and hot.

In my opinion Apna is the best Indian food in Santa Barbara. The staff is always friendly and very attentive. I've never had any issues with food here their saag paneer and chicken Tikka are my favorites. If you've never had bhel puri I definitely recommend trying it once. I love dining in for dinner, I especially love all the votive candles that light up the place however if dining in is not your jam their takeout is an excellent option. Friday nights do tend to be very busy so come early or just order takeout!

Came here quiet late and the host was kind enough to let us in. We ordered butter chicken and naan. The chicken could have been more tender. It was just ok. The service was remarkable though and everybody was exceptionally nice. The ambiance was very lively and hip. I am sure the other thing on the menu would be better than butter chicken. The meat was halal as per the host.

Ordered take out via DoorDash! The prices were are listed the same as their fine in menu plus you can schedule a pick up! Compared to other Indian restaurants the rice is included with some entrees which is a big plus. The garlic and cheese naan is sooo goood and always a must! Apna was pretty busy and when I went to pick up but the pickup process is very quick and easy.
